Young adults improve reading using Fast ForWord programs
Low performing students aged 17-21 years and attending high school in Dallas used Fast ForWord’s computer reading programs and gained two and a half grade levels in reading performance.
Methodology and measures
School personnel tested the students’ reading skills at the beginning and end of the study. Student performance was evaluated using the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).
On average, before Fast ForWord participation, students were performing at a mid-seventh grade level. After using Fast ForWord computer reading programs, students were performing at a mid-seventh grade level. After Fast ForWord use, students, on average, made significant improvements in reading ability and gained two and a half grade levels in reading performance.
