The Fast ForWord Language program consists of seven exercises: three sound exercises and four word exercises. They work together to help develop an understanding of basic speech sounds as well as the fundamental cognitive skills essential for general learning and reading.
The sound exercises present complex auditory processing information in a pre-word format, including frequency sweeps, phonemes, and digitally enhanced speech sounds.
The word exercises present words either in isolation or within sentences with various levels of linguistic complexity. The words and sentences have been acoustically modified to stretch and emphasise the rapidly changing phonetic elements within natural speech, enabling improvements in auditory processing discrimination and speed.

Students feed the hungry Robo-Dog by listening to a word and then identifying the matching picture. This auditory processing game improves listening accuracy and word recognition skills.
The squirrels play space basketball by shooting nuts into the hoop to select the nut which represents a sound they first heard. This exercise improves the ability to make correct distinctions based on individual phonemes (auditory processing phonological accuracy), the ability to identify and manipulate speech sounds in a quick and efficient manner (auditory processing phonological fluency), and the capacity for holding speech sounds in memory (phonological memory)
Students help Farmer Granny move her animals from the barn and over the fence by clicking when they hear a repeated sound change. This improves the ability to identify and manipulate speech sounds in a quick and efficient manner (auditory processing phonological fluency), the ability to remain focused on a given task while ignoring distractions and refraining from impulsive behavior (sustained attention), and the capacity for holding speech sounds in memory (phonological memory).
The space commander gives students directions to touch or move blocks. This exercise develops listening comprehension, working memory, sequencing skills and sustained attention.
The Whaliens swim below the surface of the planet in formations of 4, 8 and 16. Students attempt to match spoken words by clicking on the correct Whaliens. This auditory processing game improves the student’s ability to recognise spoken words by using auditory and visual-spatial working memory to locate matching syllables.
