Frequently asked questions

Please click on a question to view the answer.

What age is the 6 week reading boost suitable for?
This program is suitable for students in year 1 and above (yes, adults love these programs too). Students need to be able to read CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words such as bob, cat, cap and mug to train on Fast ForWord Reading 1, however children who do not have this skill can participate in a preparation program called Fast ForWord Reading Readiness. If you are unsure about your child’s suitability for the program please contact us on 1300 135 334.
Will this program also improve cognitive skills?
Fast ForWord Reading programs include components that train cognitive skills, however their main focus is on reading skills. If your child has difficulties with auditory processing, memory, sequencing, attention, following instructions or language, we recommend beginning with Fast ForWord processing training before moving to a reading boost program.
When does the course begin and end?
Your course will begin on your first training day and end 6 weeks later. The Sonic Learning team will monitor and adjust your program during this time as needed. You will have unlimited access and do not need to worry about running out of exercises to do.
Can I purchase additional training time?
Yes, at the end of the 6 weeks you may purchase additional training time at a discounted rate of $250 for 4 weeks, $450 for 8 weeks or $600 for 12 weeks.

If you purchase extensions for two of your children at the same time, a 10% discount will apply on both extensions. If you purchase extensions for three of your children at the same time, a 20% discount will apply on all extensions.

How long does it take to complete one Fast ForWord Reading program?
As every individual is different, the time spent training on one program before moving to the next also varies from student to student. As a guide, completing one program usually takes approximately 6 weeks.
What technology do I need?
Fast ForWord Reading programs can be used on most Windows and Mac computers through your internet browser (we recommend Google Chrome browser), as well as on iPad 2 and above (through the app available in the iTunes store). Headphones are not mandatory but are recommended to help the student concentrate (see the examples on this page). Parents monitoring their children should use a headphone double adaptor as described on this page.
